FAQs
Good questions. Straight answers.
Every dog and household is different. Here are some of the things people most often want to know before working with Champagne Paws.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH SERVICE TO CHOOSE?
If you already know what you need, you can choose and pay for your service through the Champagne Paws Shop.
If you’re unsure, tell Jayne about your dog first. Your enquiry will help identify the most useful place to start.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE INITIAL AND COMPLEX BEHAVIOUR SERVICES?
The Initial Canine Behaviour Assessment is for adolescent and adult dogs with general training or behaviour needs.
The Complex Behaviour Consultation is for more complex or established concerns requiring deeper assessment and preparation, including significant reactivity, aggression, fear, separation anxiety or multiple interconnected behaviour issues.
The Initial Assessment is 90 minutes. The Complex Behaviour Consultation is 2 hours.
DO YOU RUN GROUP PUPPY CLASSES?
No. Champagne Paws offers Private Puppy School in your home and everyday environment.
That means the program can focus on your puppy, your household and the life you’re actually building together rather than following a one-size-fits-all group curriculum.
WHEN SHOULD PUPPY TRAINING START?
Learning starts from the moment your puppy comes home.
Private Puppy School can begin from around eight weeks and is designed for puppies under six months. Starting early allows you to build good habits, communication and confidence from the beginning.
ARE ADVENTURE SAFARIS JUST DOG WALKS?
No.
A VIP Adventure Safari is a personalised 90-minute enrichment experience built around the individual dog. Depending on your dog, it might include beach, bush, coastal or urban exploration, confidence-building, recall practice, scentwork, swimming, play or simply learning to navigate the world calmly.
WILL MY DOG GO ON SAFARI WITH INCA?
For one-dog households, Inca will normally accompany your dog on their adventures.
New dogs are subject to suitability and may require an appropriate introduction before their first Safari. The aim is always a safe, enjoyable experience for the individual dogs involved.
CAN TWO DOGS FROM THE SAME HOUSEHOLD GO ON SAFARI TOGETHER?
Yes, where suitable. Dogs from the same household can enjoy a Safari together without Inca, subject to compatibility and an appropriate introduction.
Contact Jayne about arrangements and pricing for two-dog Safaris.
DO YOU TAKE LARGE GROUPS OF DOGS?
No. Champagne Paws specialises in personalised one-to-one care and very small, carefully considered combinations of compatible dogs.
WHERE DOES CHAMPAGNE PAWS WORK?
Champagne Paws is based at the junction of Surry Hills, Redfern and Waterloo and primarily serves Sydney’s inner city and Eastern Suburbs.
Additional travel charges may apply outside the usual service area.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I PURCHASE?
Jayne will contact you to arrange your appointment and provide any preparation information or client-care forms you need.
Purchasing a service does not automatically confirm an appointment date or time.
WHAT IF MY DOG HAS A MEDICAL CONDITION OR IS TAKING MEDICATION?
Please tell Jayne about relevant health conditions, pain or medication. Health and behaviour can be closely connected, and in some circumstances veterinary assessment may be recommended before or alongside behaviour work.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IN AN EMERGENCY?
Champagne Paws does not provide an emergency behaviour or veterinary service.
If there is an immediate risk to a person or animal, safely separate those involved and contact your veterinarian, an emergency veterinary hospital or the appropriate emergency service.
